Understanding Grief

What is grief? While we may not be able to come up with the dictionary definition of the word at a moment's notice; there's no doubt we recognize grief when we experience it. If you look up the word, it's got three meanings; the first being a "deep sadness caused especially by someone's death"; the second, "a cause of deep sadness". It's interesting that the third meaning is simply "trouble or annoyance"; grief is certainly "troublesome". If you're currently dealing with grief, we'd like to offer you the support you may need right now. For us, the key to successful grieving (leading to a healthy adjustment to loss) begins by understanding grief; and for that reason, we offer you the following resources on the nature of the grief process and the experience of grief.
